I couldn't agree with the author more. One of the biggest challenges to educating a team on the company brand is when the brand is inadequately defined or if developed by an outside agency is overly sophisticated with too many brand facets and jargon. A quality brand should be defined in such a way that it is easy for anyone to metabolize and operationalize. Our branding firm has spent the last seven years developing and delivering a team branding workshop where a handful or entire small company can together work on creating their brand. What we may lack in sophistication, we make up for in ease of understanding. Our clients tell us the later is worth far more.
